Dr. James Magara

Dr. James Magara is a futurist with a Doctor of Strategic Leadership from Regent University, Virginia Beach, USA; Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership and Management from Uganda Christian University, Mukono; Master of Science in Dental Prosthetics from University of Bristol (UK), and Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. He holds an Advanced Leadership Certificate from Haggai Institute in Hawaii, USA; Oak Seed Executive Leadership Training Course Certificate offered by the Institute for National Transformation, and, Sundoulos African Leadership Training Certificate in Servant Leadership.

Dr. Magara is a cherished voice on leadership in Uganda and beyond. He has spoken at leadership gatherings on three continents. His passion to see Africa’s immense human capital put to use is evident in his well-researched and provocative book, Positioning Africa in the 21st Century: The Pivotal Role of Leadership and Think Tanks.

Dr. Magara has been actively involved in raising the standard of leadership and education in his home country and across Africa by raising, developing, mentoring and equipping other leaders. Besides running a successful dental practice, he serves as the International Deputy Director General of the Institute for National Transformation and is part of the faculty that focuses on raising transformational leaders in Africa and among Africans in the diaspora. He was also involved in training and mentoring of the youth through the Uganda Youth Forum where he served as Board Chairman for 12 years. He is currently the Chairman, Board of Directors, Uganda Heart Institute, and, Chairman of the think tank, Centre for Advanced Strategic Leadership (CASTLE).
